Compiled by Imam Muhammad ibn Isma’il al-Bukhari, completed around 846 AD / 232 AH. Among Sunni Muslims it is regarded as the most authentic hadith collection after the Quran.

Arabic only, by design. These pages publish the Arabic matn only — no English or Urdu translation of the hadith text. The standard English translation (Muhsin Khan / Darussalam) is under copyright and needs written permission, and no Urdu translation has yet been verified as public domain. The Arabic original is a 9th-century text; it is published here from the verified Arabic edition named below.

Numbering, stated plainly. This section uses the numbering of the ara-bukhari edition (hadith-api): hadith numbers run 1–7563, and the Arabic number equals the hadith number in this edition. Counting with repetitions, the collection is about 7,563 narrations; counting each narration once, without repetitions, about 2,602. Other editions number a few boundary hadiths one number differently — where that happens, the range below follows this edition.

How to read a hadith here. The narrator chain is part of the Arabic text itself, exactly as the source gives it — the source does not list chains separately, and no chain has been added, shortened, or reworded. The source gives no separate grade field for these hadiths; inclusion in Sahih al-Bukhari is the authenticity claim.

Published so far: Book 1 is published in full below. Books 2–97 are listed in the index so the whole structure is visible; their pages are added book by book in the same Arabic-only format. Only Book 1 is linked, because only Book 1 exists.

Note on the counts. Each count is the span of hadith numbers in the ara-bukhari edition (last minus first, plus one). Six numbers — 521, 2384, 2516, 2711, 3156, 4978 — fall on book boundaries in this edition and are not assigned to either neighbouring book, so the spans add to 7,557 rather than 7,563. Book 1’s count (7) is verified against the actual published entries, not just the span.
